Overcoming Attacks

Overcoming the “Early and Often” Attacks
Meant To Shut You Down
April 5, 2017

Recently, I have been looking at the lives of certain ones that are in ministry today and one particular trend seems to be emerging. Every single one that is anointed to speak, whether for prayer, for preaching, for prophetic ministry… all experienced major attacks in their lives, most as far back as early childhood. As I examined the things they each faced as they entered their school years, their teenage years and finally adulthood, I realized that the enemy had launched assignments against them very early. Some suffered horrible abuse from their parents, spouses or relatives. Some were molested as children. Some were raped as teenagers. Some faced considerable rejection at school among peers. Some battled demonic onslaughts (nightmares, visions of demons, etc). The enemy had even attempted to take some of their very lives. Nearly all of them used drugs and alcohol at some point. All of them battled spirits of fear, anxiety, depression, rejection, and/or anger. Some battled pride. It seemed that the enemy saw the mark of the God on their lives and immediately began to try and stop them from ever reaching their full potential and the destinies God had in mind for them by shutting them up and shutting them down. Some never answered the call. Of those that made it into ministry, some still are like wounded warriors on the battlefield, still baring the scars of yesterday and affects from it can be seen in their ministries. But others have overcome and have been strengthened. When they open their mouths there is power and anointing that flows forth to break hell off of people’s lives.

We have entered into a time where the very gates of hell have been opened up and the hoards of it, unleashed on all mankind. We need to understand that we have a very real enemy out there that has waged war on us and we need to learn to recognize his tactics and how to effectively fight him.

This is what the Word of God says:

“The weapons of our warfare are not carnal; but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.”
~2 Corinthians 2:4
“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
~2 Timothy 1:7
“For we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
~Ephesians 6:12
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
~1 Peter 5:8

Before entering any battle with the enemy, before entering into any type of ministry, we must first spend time with the LORD in prayer. When our focus is solely on Him, we automatically become strengthened and empowered. Revelations of Who He is, of who we are and how to defend ourselves against our adversary come forth when we read His Word. It is the most powerful ammunition we have. It is by the baptism of His Holy Spirit that we become bold and the gifts of God become activated in our lives. And in those moments when it’s needed, the Holy Spirit will pull up the Word of God right out of our innermost being and use it as a weapon against the enemy. There is life, truth and freedom in Jesus Christ.

God is wanting to change us from being victims to living our lives in victory. For those still bound up and plagued by fear, there is freedom for you! It’s time. Right now, we are in a time of acceleration, where God is setting things in order quickly. If you’re not living life as an overcomer yet, today is a great day to start! Our greatest victories start with a single step, a single act, a single word!
