Do We Really Believe?
August 10, 2017
For weeks now, the words Jesus spoke in Luke 18:8 have been resounding in my spirit.
“…When the Son of man returns, will He find faith on the earth?”
Jesus was asking, “will there be anyone left that believes in Me?” Think about that.
When asked what we believe, so often we say, “I have my faith.” Traditionally, we go before the church and make our “profession of faith.” Many times when it comes to God meeting a need we have we say things like, “I know God can” but then there is this looming doubt of, “but will He?”
James 1:6 says, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt.”
In the Greek, the word “faith” is “pístis” or “písteōs” and it means: to be won over; to be persuaded.
When we are fully persuaded about something, we don’t allow doubt or reason in. We are convinced on the matter. Our minds are made up. When a person is persuaded that they are meant to do something, they will seek that thing out until it’s been acquired or accomplished. They will pursue after it with all their mind and heart.
Likewise, this is how our faith should be in Jesus Christ and in His Word. We should be absolutely persuaded that what He has said is true, and to know that it also applies to us. It is critical that we know our place and our promise. From this position, when we pick up our Bible, and we read, “Everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. Everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Matt 7:8) we can then pray and move in faith, persuaded that God, somehow, someway is going to make a way! He’s going to meet the need we have. We war and overcome whatever situation knowing what God has said about it and we declare God’s Word over what is happening in our lives. We may have to declare again and again until that thing bows, but we must understand it is already defeated.
GOD is on our side, y’all! GOD! The same One that created the planets, the stars, our sun, the ground we stand on every day, the very air we breathe. He cares about what is going on in our lives, down to the smallest, most seemingly insignificant details. He has given us the right (and the authority) to take control over the territory He has given us and to shift our atmosphere when the enemy launches mental assault against us. He has given us the power to shift things by positioning ourselves into a Kingdom mindset and operating from that place.
So are you walking by faith?
-Is there confusion?
-Is there doubt?
If the answer is yes, then you aren’t persuaded. So then, what has God said about what’s happening in your life? Doesn’t the Word say “we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us?” (Romans 8:37) Or how about, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
He loves you. There is a way. Now, choose to believe and to stand.
