Understanding Spiritual Warfare: Welcome

Understanding Spiritual Warfare: A Few Opening Thoughts From Tammie McCoy
April 17, 2017

Life on planet earth is filled with all kinds of warfare (conflict). For me personally, it can come on a daily basis. What about you?

Every day we are given opportunities to choose victory over adverse circumstances that we all face. The Bible says in Matthew 11:12, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”

The word “suffereth” was used in old English and it means, “to allow.” The words “violence” and “violent” were used to describe taking something by aggression or force. So let’s read the scripture this way… “And in the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven allows aggression, and the aggressive take it force.” Notice the phrase, “kingdom of heaven.” That is a spiritual kingdom and not a flesh and blood kingdom. Our aggression or forcefulness should be directed toward what has been rightfully given to us as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Understanding spiritual warfare is an essential building block in the foundation of our faith and without it, we can be greatly hindered.

My hope is that this study will enhance your relationship with our Father God, through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the Word of God. For some, this study of spiritual warfare will bring new understanding and for others it will be a refresher. For me, let me tell ya’, it will be both!
Let me leave you with this acronym:

Let us aggressively win by the Word of God, against every free radical force that is advancing its unlawful right of entitlement over our lives. I want the Word of God to be the winning radical force that advances its right of entitlement in my life.

I choose to allow God’s Word to win in my life. What about you?

In the coming weeks, we will be taking a closer look at what spiritual warfare is. We will discuss the differences between what is flesh, the world, and the devil and how we can overcome them.

Stay tuned. You don’t want to miss this series!
